Are you receiving the new STR Senior Low-income discount?
Beginning January 2024, a new program provides lower rates for senior low-income residents in the South Tahoe Refuse service area.


In order to receive the 20% discount, your home must qualify for the California Care Program. Eligibility and application information is available online at: Residential – California Electric – Liberty (libertyutilities.com (https://california.libertyutilities.com/truckee/residential/my-account/my-bill/programs/california-alternative-rates-for-energy.html), or by contacting Liberty Utilities at: 1-800-782-2506.
The CARE program (above) also provides discounts on (1-2 occupants):
- Liberty Electric – $40,880 – 20%
- California Alternate Rates for Energy – Residential – California Electric – Liberty (libertyutilities.com)
- South Tahoe Public Utility District – $61,320 – 15%
