Prop 50’s fate still hangs in the balance

Dear John,
There’s one week left in the campaign to defeat Prop 50, and more than four million votes have been cast so far.
- Given the notoriously difficult-to-gauge turnout in special elections, the fate of Prop 50 is still in the balance.
- Despite all of the Yes on 50 side’s spending, most polling shows the race is still tight, with the Yes vote still stuck near 50%. Undecided voters often vote no on ballot measures, making accurate polling a challenge.
- Commissioners from the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission are hitting the airwaves to warn voters that Prop 50 is highly unlikely to be temporary, casting doubt on those who think it is needed as an emergency measure.
- Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is also calling out the Democrats’ hypocrisy on gerrymandering in a viral clip from his Sunday morning CNN interview that has been viewed 41 million times.
- Governor Schwarzenegger is looking out for the people. Contrast that with current Governor Gavin Newsom, who is conceding he’s gearing up to run for president while pushing Prop 50—looking out for himself.
